José Llosa Balaguer
Deacon of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
José Llosa Balaguer was a deacon of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin, born in the town of Benaguacil in the province of Valencia in 1901; the decree calls him a learned and tender religious, given wholly to the work of bringing back young people who had gone astray, and he was killed in the town where he was born on 7 October 1936.
He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by John Paul II, among Vicente Cabanes Badenas and his eighteen companions of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin and the laywoman María del Carmen García Moyon.
