Who they were

A religious of the Congregation of the Passion, born on 3 February 1917 at Puente la Reina in the diocese of Pamplona and professed on 29 October 1933. At Easter 1936 he wrote to his mother that he was ready even to suffer martyrdom for the faith; three months later, on 23 July 1936, he was shot with his community at Carabanchel Bajo. He was beatified on 1 October 1989 by John Paul II, among Nicéforo Díez Tejerina and twenty-five companions of the Congregation of the Passion.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology names him among the Passionist martyrs of Spain.
