José Maria de Yermo y Parres

Who they were
José María de Yermo y Parres was born on 10 November 1851 on the Jalmolonga estate, Malinalco, Mexico, son of a lawyer; his mother died fifty days after his birth and he was raised by his father and an aunt. After a painful crisis he left a religious congregation and was ordained for the diocese of León on 24 August 1879.
Faced with the terrible sight of pigs devouring two newborn babies, he resolved to found a home for the abandoned and needy, and founded the Servants of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Poor to help those in need of body and soul.
