Who they were
José María Rubio Peralta was born at Dalías, Almería, on 22 July 1864 into a very large family, studied at the seminaries of Granada and Madrid and was ordained in Madrid in 1887.
In 1906 he joined the Society of Jesus and stayed in Madrid until his death at Aranjuez on 2 May 1929, known for hearing confessions, preaching retreats and visiting the poor of the city.
