Who they were

The decree on martyrdom records that he was born on 3 February 1912, made his religious profession in 1929 and was ordained priest on Holy Saturday 1936, and that in the following September he was arrested at Barcelona and after three days all trace of him was lost, so that no one ever knew where he was killed or buried. He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by Pope John Paul II.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The decree says he disappeared three days after his arrest and that the place of his death and burial was never known.
