Who they were
José Ortega Carrillo was a diocesan priest, born at Jaén on 2 March 1877 and chaplain of the monastery of Santa Úrsula de las Agustinas in Jaén, who was killed on 30 November 1936 at the age of 59. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV among the 124 martyrs of Jaén.
