José Tapia Díaz was born on 6 January 1913 at Terque. He was a layman and a member of Catholic Action.
He was killed on 20 August 1936 in his native place, and Pope Francis beatified him on 25 March 2017 among José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre and 114 companions, diocesan priests and lay faithful killed between 1936 and 1938.
