José Vega Riaño

Who they were

José Vega Riaño was born at Siero de la Reina in the province and diocese of León on 19 March 1904, made his first religious profession on 31 July 1922 and was ordained priest in Rome on 3 July 1927, where he took a doctorate in canon law. Arrested on 10 October 1936 and killed at Paracuellos de Jarama on 28 November following, he was beatified with the Spanish martyrs of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on 17 December 2011 by Benedict XVI.
