Who they were

In the stretch of sea off Rochefort in France, Blessed Joseph Juge de Saint-Martin, priest and martyr, who, a canon of Limoges, during the French Revolution was inhumanly held on a prison ship for his priesthood, where, worn out by disease, he passed to the Lord.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 7 July as a canon of Limoges who died on a prison ship off Rochefort during the French Revolution, held for his priesthood.
