Who they were
In the extermination camp of Auschwitz near Kraków in Poland, Blessed Józef Kowalski, martyr, who, in time of war, was put in prison for Christ, where under torture he completed his martyrdom.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 4 July as a martyr who died under torture at Auschwitz, imprisoned there for Christ.
