Who they were
Ordained in 1962 by Karol Wojtyła, Kurzeja began pastoral work in the new Nowa Huta housing estate of Mistrzejowice in 1970 and drove the building of its church, enduring constant harassment, fines and detentions by the communist authorities; he died in 1976 aged 39 and is buried in the crypt of St Maximilian Kolbe church at Mistrzejowice.
