Who they were
Brother Braulio Carlos (Juan Lucas Manzanares) was born near Lorca, in Murcia, on 10 December 1913. As a Brother of the Christian Schools he was sent to teach in Madrid, at Puente de Vallecas, and won everyone's respect for his cheerful and sincere character. He was killed on 23 February 1937; the Church's decree says his refusal of a temptation against chastity played a part in his death.
Pope Benedict XVI declared him a martyr in 2011, and he was beatified at Tarragona on 13 October 2013 with his companions.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
One of sixteen De La Salle Brothers killed in Madrid in the religious persecution of 1936-1937, beatified as martyrs in 2013.
