Who they were
Juan Vallés Anguera was born on 21 December 1872 at Darmós, in the province of Tarragona and the diocese of Tortosa; he entered the Sodality of Diocesan Worker Priests of the Heart of Jesus on 26 August 1897, was ordained priest on 7 June 1898, and spent his ministry fostering vocations to the priesthood at Murcia, Burgos, Valencia, Cuernavaca in Mexico, Jaen, Barcelona, Segovia, Tarragona, Seville, Tortosa and Belchite. He died a martyr in his home village of Darmos on 9 August 1936, and was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.
