Jude the Apostle
one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus; traditionally identified with Jude the brother of Jesus

Who they were
Jude Thaddeus was one of the Twelve, and tradition holds him a cousin of Jesus: his father Alphaeus is said to have been St Joseph's brother. Sharing a name with the traitor cost him devotion for centuries.
When the apostles dispersed from Jerusalem he preached through Syria, Armenia and ancient Persia, where, according to tradition, he joined the apostle Simon; their preaching brought many to baptism, and there the two were martyred together. St Venantius Fortunatus records that they were buried in Persia.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: Jude has been honoured as an apostle and martyr since the earliest Church. He shares his feast with St Simon on 28 October.
Why that counted as sanctity
Jude stayed faithful to Christ, carried the Gospel to the far East of the known world, and by tradition died for it with Simon.
