Jules Grand

Who they were

Jules Grand was a diocesan priest of Le Puy, born at Saint-Julien-Chapteuil on 4 November 1905 and baptised the next day; he entered the seminary of Le Puy and was ordained on 29 June 1931. Called up in September 1939 as a sergeant major, he was taken prisoner on 21 June 1940 and interned first at Neuf-Brisach and then at Stalag VI G as a chaplain; arrested on 12 July 1944, he died at Buchenwald on 16 January 1945, aged 39. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
