Who they were
Julian was an English mystic of the fourteenth century who lived as an anchoress in a cell by the church of St Julian in Norwich, probably a Benedictine. In May 1373, aged thirty and a half, she received the visions written down in her Sixteen Revelations of Divine Love.
For twenty years afterwards, she says, she was taught inwardly about what she had been shown. She was still alive in 1413.
