Who they were
Justino Orona Madrigal was born at Atoyac, Jalisco, on 14 April 1877. Parish priest of Cuquío, he founded the Poor Clare Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
When persecution grew, he stayed with his people, saying: 'I will remain among my own, alive or dead.' He was killed with his curate, St Atilano Cruz. He was one of the 25 martyrs of the Mexican persecution, led by St Cristóbal Magallanes, most of them priests killed for exercising their ministry.
