Who they were
Karol Golda, born at Tychy on 23 December 1914, studied in the Salesian houses of Poland and was then sent to Rome, where he was ordained priest in 1938; he returned to teach theology in the house of studies at Oświęcim. He was arrested by the Gestapo on 31 December 1941, deported to Auschwitz in February 1942 and shot there on 14 May 1942. He was beatified on 6 June 2026 by Pope Leo XIV.
