Karolina Gerhardinger

Who they were
Karolina Gerhardinger was born in a suburb of Regensburg, Bavaria, on 20 June 1797 and went to the girls' school of the Canonesses of Notre-Dame. At only twelve she answered the call to become a teacher.
As Mother Maria Theresa of Jesus she founded, with great foresight, and led for over forty years the Poor School Sisters of Notre Dame, devoted above all to education, answering what she saw as God's call in a great challenge of her time.
