Who they were
Ladislaus, son of Béla I, was chosen King of Hungary by the nobles in 1077. He defeated rebels and invading Cumans, took Croatia for the Hungarian crown and founded the bishoprics of Zagreb and Nagyvárad.
He governed the Church and State with an assembly that was almost a synod. One of Hungary's national Christian heroes, he died on 29 July 1095.
