Who they were
Laurencia Díaz Bolanos was born in the village of Guia near Las Palmas on 10 August 1896, made her religious vows as a Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in 1926 and nursed in the operating theatre of an institute for workers disabled at their work. The decree places her among the two sisters shot on 22 November 1936 in the Las Vistillas gardens at Madrid and buried in the eastern cemetery, and she was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.
