Who they were
Born at Castrecías in the province of Burgos on 21 November 1881, he made his perpetual vows in 1903; an outstanding teacher, he was director of the schools at Cartagena in Spain and at Burgos, and then visitor and provincial, and he stood by his brothers from the first signs of the persecution and would not leave Spain although he could have. He was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Benedict XVI with Virgilio and 44 companions of the Institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
Shortly before his martyrdom he encouraged his brothers with the words: «Brothers, I shall meet you in heaven».
