Who they were
Leon Wetmański is one of the 108 Polish martyrs of the Second World War, clergy and lay people, young and old, of every rank and state, beatified together by John Paul II.
Among them were Archbishop Antoni Julian Nowowiejski of Płock, tortured to death at Działdowo, and Bishop Władysław Goral of Lublin, tortured with particular hatred because he was a Catholic bishop.
