American merchant ship captain who rescued 14,500 Koreans at Hungnam, later a Benedictine brother
Who they were
As captain of the SS Meredith Victory he took 14,500 Korean refugees out of Hungnam in December 1950, and afterwards entered St Paul's Abbey in the diocese of Paterson, New Jersey, as Brother Marinus.
