Who they were
Paolo Girolamo Casanova was born at Porto Maurizio, today Imperia, on 20 December 1676, studied at the Roman College and took the Franciscan habit at the Retreat of St Bonaventure on the Palatine.
Full of love for souls, he spent his life preaching more than three hundred missions in Rome, Corsica and northern Italy and publishing devotional books. With devotion to the Holy Name and to Our Lady, he spread the Way of the Cross above all.
