Who they were
Bogdan Mandić was born at Herceg Novi on the Bay of Kotor on 12 May 1866, the eleventh of twelve children of a devout Croatian family. He became a Capuchin, studied at Padua and Venice, and was ordained in the basilica of the Salute on 20 September 1890.
Burning with zeal for Christian unity, as Father Leopold he gave his whole life to the ministry of reconciliation in the confessional.
