Who they were
Francisco Tomás Márquez Sánchez was born at Alpandeire, Málaga, on 24 June 1864. Sensible, cheerful, good company and a tireless worker, he began each day with Mass. A triduum at Ronda in 1895 for the beatification of Diego José de Cádiz moved him to become a Capuchin.
As Brother Leopold, a lay brother, he bore witness to the mystery of Christ poor and crucified by example and word, in the humble, prayerful rhythm of daily life.
