Liborius Wagner

Who they were
Liborius Wagner was born into Protestantism at Mühlhausen in Thuringia on 5 December 1593, studied at Leipzig, Gotha and Strasbourg and qualified as a teacher in 1617. Studying at Würzburg under the Jesuits, he became a Catholic and was ordained on 29 March 1625.
From 1626 parish priest of Altenmünster-Sulzdorf, a largely Protestant town, he worked with all his strength to win souls. Betrayed, he was seized on 4 December 1631, dragged behind a horse, and killed for his Catholic faith on 9 December 1631, aged 38.
