Who they were
Lodovico Pavoni was born in Brescia in 1784 and grew up between Brescia and Alfianello, known even as a boy for his care for poor boys. As a priest he founded the Sons of Mary Immaculate to educate the poorest young people and train them in a trade, above all a printing school, counted the first school of printing in Italy.
He died on 1 April 1849.
The miracles
A man — São Paulo, Brazil
A man suffered a stroke after surgery, then pneumonia in both lungs from inhaled matter with acute respiratory failure, and kidney failure. He was healed through Blessed Lodovico's intercession.
Why that counted as sanctity
Beatification followed on 14 April 2002 by John Paul II. The case of a man was examined by the Church's doctors and theologians and approved as a miracle on 9 May 2016, opening the way to canonisation. Canonisation followed on 16 October 2016 by Francis.
