Who they were
Louis Aleman became Bishop of Maguelonne, Archbishop of Arles in 1423 and a cardinal in 1426. At the Council of Basle he led the party that set the council above the pope and elected the antipope Felix V, though he showed heroic courage nursing the plague-stricken there.
He later submitted to Pope Nicholas V and is believed to have done penance for his schism. His private life had always been penitential; he died in the odour of sanctity on 16 September 1450, and many miracles were reported at his tomb.

In 1527 a Brief of Pope Clement VII permitted him to be venerated as Blessed.
