Louis Brisson

Who they were
Louis Brisson was born at Plancy, near Troyes, on 23 June 1817 and ordained for the diocese of Troyes in 1840. He taught religion and science at the Visitation school and was an ingenious inventor, building an astronomical clock of great accuracy.
Urged by a Visitation nun after decades of discussion, he founded the Oblates of St Francis de Sales, the priests St Francis de Sales had wished to found, and the Oblate Sisters. He died on 2 February 1908.
