Who they were
Louis Doumain was a diocesan priest of Viviers, born in Canada at Morinville on 7 February 1920 and baptised there on 15 February; he came to France with his family at six, entered the minor seminary of Aubenas and moved to the major seminary of Viviers in October 1936, was naturalised French in December 1941 and ordained priest on 19 December 1942. Recruited for the compulsory labour service in July 1943 and sent to Bitterfeld, he was arrested there for his apostolate on 19 September 1944 and died at Zöschen on 20 December 1944, aged 24. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
