Why that counted as sanctity
Born about 1877 in northern Côte d'Ivoire and freed from slave raids as a boy, he was baptised in 1898 and spent his life in the service of the mission; his cause is joint with that of his wife Valérie Ama. The archdiocese of Korhogo asked the Congregation for the Causes of Saints for the nihil obstat, granted on 16 December 1994, in what it presents as the first cause of an African married couple.
