Who they were
Lucy Louise, a widow, was one of the twenty companions of Blessed Antonio of Saint Bonaventure and Blessed Domingo Castellet, martyred at Nagasaki by the sword or by fire; many of the group were lay people and children. The Church remembers them on 8 September.
She is one of the 205 martyrs killed in Japan for the Catholic faith between 1617 and 1632 whom Pius IX declared Blessed on 7 July 1867.
