Who they were
At Nicomedia in Bithynia, in present-day Turkey, Saints Lucian and Marcian, martyrs, who, tradition says, were burned at the stake under the emperor Decius, by order of the proconsul Sabinus.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
