Luigi Carrara

Who they were

Luigi Carrara was born at Cornale di Pradalunga, near Bergamo in Italy, on 3 March 1933, entered the Xaverian Missionaries in 1947, made temporary profession on 12 September 1954 and perpetual profession on 5 November 1959. Ordained priest on 15 October 1961, he was sent the following year to Baraka in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he was killed on 28 November 1964; Pope Francis beatified him on 18 August 2024.
