Who they were
Luigi Talamoni was born at Monza on 3 October 1848, the son of a hatter. He grew up serving Mass with his father and in the oratory of the Carrobiolo.
A priest and educator of young people, he took an active part in the struggles of his society and founded the Misericordine Sisters of St Gerard.
