Luis Almécija Lázaro was born on 23 April 1883 at Illar, in the province and diocese of Almería, and was ordained priest in 1906.
He was killed on 25 August 1936 at Rágol, in the province of Almería, and Pope Francis beatified him on 25 March 2017 among José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre and 114 companions, diocesan priests and lay faithful killed between 1936 and 1938.
