Who they were
Luis Batis Sáinz was born at San Miguel Mezquital, Zacatecas, on 13 September 1870, and was parish priest of San Pedro Chalchihuites.
He gave special care to young people, guiding them like a father and instilling in them the spirit of Christian heroism in professing the faith. He was killed soon after public worship was suppressed. He was one of the 25 martyrs of the Mexican persecution, led by St Cristóbal Magallanes, most of them priests killed for exercising their ministry.
