Who they were

Maggiorino Vigolungo was born at Benevello, near Alba in the province of Cuneo, Italy, on 6 May 1904 to a humble farming family. As a boy he met Father James Alberione, founder of the Pauline Family, and resolved: 'I want to become a saint, a great saint, and quickly.'

At twelve he entered the new Pious Society of Saint Paul at Alba, seeing its printing press as his pulpit and its print shop as his church. In May 1918 he fell ill with pleurisy, then meningitis, and died on 27 July 1918, aged fourteen, offering his life for the apostolate of good books and for vocations.
