Who they were
Manuel González García was born in Seville on 25 February 1877 and dreamed from childhood of being a priest. He became auxiliary and then Bishop of Málaga, and later Bishop of Palencia.
Known for his zeal for the Eucharist, especially for Jesus left alone in neglected tabernacles, he founded the Eucharistic Reparation Union and the Eucharistic Missionaries of Nazareth. He died on 4 January 1940.

A patient in Madrid — Madrid, Spain — 2008
A patient was healed of an aggressive plasmablastic non-Hodgkin lymphoma. On 29 October 2015 the Vatican's medical board found unanimously that the healing was scientifically inexplicable.
Why that counted as sanctity
Beatification followed on 29 April 2001 by John Paul II. The case of a patient in Madrid was examined by the Church's doctors and theologians and approved as a miracle on 3 March 2016, opening the way to canonisation. Canonisation followed on 16 October 2016 by Francis.
