Who they were
Manuel Vílchez Montalvo was born at Moreda on 5 June 1889 and was ordained priest; badly ill-treated, he was killed at Moreda on 17 March, the decree on martyrdom giving the year as 1937 and the Dicastery's list of companions giving 1936. He was beatified on 26 February 2022 by Pope Francis among Cayetano Giménez Martín and fifteen companions.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The decree on martyrdom records that he was put to death in hatred of the faith during the persecution of the Church in Spain.
