Who they were
Marcel Touquet was a layman born at Corrèze on 10 October 1914 and baptised in September 1919; a warehouseman, he joined the Young Christian Workers between 1940 and 1941 and became a federal member. He fought as a sergeant at Sedan in 1939 and 1940, married Germaine Defrain in 1942 and had a son, for whose birth and baptism he obtained leave from Berlin, where he had been working since February 1943 and also acting as an informer for the Resistance; arrested on 25 August 1944, he died at Bergen-Belsen at the end of January 1945. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
