Marcellinus of Carthage

Who they were
Marcellinus, a trusted official of Emperor Honorius, presided with great patience and impartiality over the conference between Catholics and Donatists at Carthage in 411. A friend of St Augustine, he received several of his works, including the first books of The City of God.
In 413 he and his brother were imprisoned on false charges of rebellion, which St Jerome says the Donatists brought out of hatred, and he was executed on 12 September 413.

He is in the Roman Martyrology as a martyr; there was never a formal cause.

A just official and friend of St Augustine, put to death on false charges.
