Monsignor Marciano Bernardes da Fonseca was ordained in 1887 and in the same year became parish priest of Santa Rita de Cássia at Santa Rita de Jacutinga in Minas Gerais, where he stayed until his death fifty-eight years later.

Archbishop Gil Antônio Moreira authorised preliminary work in 2011, the nihil obstat is dated 16 January 2013, and the archdiocese of Juiz de Fora calls him Servant of God with the cause under way at the Vatican.
