Who they were
Margaret was born around 1287 and, disabled, lived for a time begging in the streets of Città di Castello. Taken in by a small community of nuns, she was sent away when her mortified life and her rebukes stirred their envy.
A devout couple, Grigia and Venturino, took her into their home with their two children and gave her a little cell for prayer and penance. A Dominican tertiary, her infirmity did not stop her living an extraordinary spiritual motherhood; wonders and healings were attributed to her. She died on 13 April 1320.
