Maria Angela Picco
Italian Roman Catholic nun (1867–1921)
Feast: 7 September (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Eugenia Picco was born at Crescenzago, Milan, on 8 November 1867. Her mother abandoned her blind father and raised Eugenia in an irreligious home, pressing her to become a singer; she found refuge in prayer in the basilica of Sant'Ambrogio.
In May 1886 she felt the call to holiness. She joined the Little Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, where she promoted the dignity of women and the spiritual and cultural formation of the sisters.
