Who they were

The decree on martyrdom describes her as a professed religious of the Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, born on 9 November 1896 at Villalba in the diocese of Mondoñedo, who bound herself to God by simple vows on 9 September 1928 and by perpetual vows on 27 September 1931; in the world she was María de la Presentación García Ferreiro. She was beatified on 28 October 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI.

Why that counted as sanctity

Named in the decree on martyrdom among Manuela del Corazón de Jesús and twenty-two companions of the Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity killed in Spain in 1936.
