Who they were
María del Pilar Cimadevilla y López-Dóriga was born in Madrid on 17 February 1952 and went to school with the Sisters of Christ the King. When she was not yet nine she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, which caused her great pain.
She joined the Missionary Union of the Sick, offered her sufferings for the conversion of sinners and non-Christians, and gave up medicines that would have eased the pain. Devoted to the Eucharist, the Child Jesus and the Rosary, she died on 6 March 1962, aged ten.

Why that counted as sanctity
A Madrid child who offered the pain of a fatal illness for others; her heroic virtue has been declared.
