Who they were
María del Pilar Isabel Sánchez Suárez was born at Madrid on 5 November 1906, made her religious vows as a Daughter of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in 1930 and worked as an assistant in an operating theatre. The decree places her among the two sisters serving at the Santa Cristina hospital in Madrid who were killed on 31 October 1936 and buried in a pit in the eastern cemetery, and she was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.
